Oh isn’t this great? A german guy called Armin Heinrich (at least I suspect he’s german from the sound of his name) has an app on the iPhone App Store called “I Am Rich.” All the app does is … um … display a red gem. No hidden features or hacks whatsoever. But heres the thing: the app costs 1000$. :-D So if you’re rich enough, you can get it and show everyone how rich you are. Here is the description from the AppStore:

The red icon on your iPhone or iPod touch always reminds you (and others when you show it to them) that you were rich enough to afford this.

It’s a work of art with no hidden function at all

Though this isn’t the best of it yet, check out this screenshot of a comment in the App Store. Someone actually bought it!

Now, there are only two piece of advice I can give to the poor guy who bought it:

Don’t buy the Platinum or Gold Upgrade … ROFL

Show the world that you are the only man in the world who can afford (or be cool enough) to buy this app. Show them!

I am actually a bit disappointed that Apple removed the App from the Store. The app doesn’t violate anything so it should be kept there … if the author insists that it stays. And I think the author should insist, cause there are a lot of rich people around here in the world who will buy it! :-D

“See, to them, you’re just a freak. Like me!” another great Joker quote! :-D

“Let’s put a smile on that facah.” Isn’t it amazing how Ledger puts this accent on the last letters of a sentence?

Best actor is Heath Ledger! May he rest in peace.

Dislikes? The plastic-looking Batpod (Batmans motorcycle)

Long time until the next movie!

Darn I want to see this movie again.

It’s been a year since Apple introduced the very first version of the iPhone. My own iPhone is about 4 months old. It’s still in good shape and I love it more than any other Apple product and phone on the market (and MP3 player).
iPhone is exclusively distributed by T-Mobile in Germany. During the time the first iPhone was available in Germany, the prices were way to high. By now, the prices are in the range of that of the other countries. Though, the prices back then forced me to get an iPhone via eBay and get it jailbreaked (and unlocked). It worked quite well as the tools were there already and I didn’t experience any problems.

A unlocked 3G iPhone??? Don’t think so…

Although it’s just 2 days after the iPhone 3G launch, I have a feeling that the jailbreaking and unlocking won’t succeed this time. There are rumors about the iPhone Dev Team bringing out a tool (via Gizmodo) … but will that do it? You can’t buy the iPhone no more in any shop without directly signing up with a contract. Bad!

Pondering goes on…

So … I am pondering between waiting for the jailbreak tool and running the 2.0 software on my existing iPhone (unlocked), or just getting a new iPhone from T-Mobile (with contract). If I’d go with a contract (29€ a month) I end up with about 1000€ including the 16GB white iPhone for 24 months. Darn that’s expensive. Or get another jailbreaked iPhone 3G via eBay for 249€?

In the meantime, I’ll just have to wait and not update to the sexy 2.0 software. :-D

The tools, which are Leopard-only, are still in beta - but who cares! It’s all about the cool stuff that you can do and build for the iPhone.
I’m downloading it right now:

Let’s check it out and if you haven’t clicked the download button, the better do as it takes it’s time. :-D

Here is the first one. Definite number one. Awesomely funny … the wigs the spaghetti, the american accent; “Oh no, come on.” Love how the portray the italian guy. LOL

The next ad is also Japanese. Has a nice women playing Mario. She’s supposed to be into the game - but it really doesn’t come across. Thus, funny!

Okay this one, is actually real great! Has nice animation and the sound effects are well mixed with the video itself. I especially like the “Super Mario Brosas” at the end. :-P

And one last ad. This one is for Mario Smash Football. I like the ad - but I think the scream of the one guy is just a tiny bit to long. Hehe

I have just downloaded the beta version of the Versions app recently released by Sofa and Pico. The app itself is a Mac-based subversion client … I think the only one? In any case, I haven’t had any chance to check out the application itself yet - but the icon is boyh! Amazing. I don’t know who did it - but it just rocks so much in the new Leopard dock. Just download it yourself and then take a look at how it “grows.”

I have done this screenshot to show you how the icon sits on the icon. I’ve included three other icons which seem to be the first new icons of an icon revolution (Sebastiaan calls them revolutions). Icons for Mac applications are moving away from the rather front-on view and are adapting to the 3D-look created by the dock.
I like the new look - but I am just hoping that we won’t have a real clush of 2D with 3D icons here. That just wouldn’t look nice in the dock. :-D

I have recently stumbled upon Sean Klassens blog via some design gallery (can’t remember which one). I was just scrolling through his blog to see if anything interests me and so … well I was just checking out his site. One post that I really enjoyed was the “iTunes by the Numbers” post in which Sean listed some things cool stats about his iTunes library. I’ll just do the same thing:

The total music library

8632 Songs, 23 days, 41GB

First and last artist

Aaron Davis & Orchestra (followed by ABBA :-)

the 1990s

First and last album

“À cause des garçons - EP” by Yelle

“1973 - EP” by James Blunt

First and last song

Funny, they are just the same as the first and last album. LOL. So I picked the next ones which are different. :-D

The real ones:

“À cause des garçons” by Yelle

“1973″ by James Blunt

The next ones:

“Accidental Soul” by the Blood Arm

“1234″ by Feist

Shortest and longest song

“Dutty Techniques Skit” by Sean Paul at 15 seconds

“DARE (DFA Remix)” by the Gorillaz at about 13 minutes

Top five played songs

“Cubicle” by Rinôçérôse (played 324 times - loool)

“You Don’t Love Me” by the Kooks

“Destination Calabria” by Alex Gaudino

“Summer’s Ocean” by Moodorama

“Kingdom of Doom” by The Good, The Bad & The Queen

Search for the following words. How many songs show up?

Sex: 89

Death: 20

Love: 584

You: 624

Home: 36

Boy: 304

Girl: 220

Be: 2056

First five songs that come up on Party Shuffle

“Sunday Morning” by No Doubt

“Lady” by Lenny Kravitz

“Is it ‘cos I’m Cool” by Mousse T

“Wir trafen uns in einem Garten mit Max” by 2raumwohnung

“By The way” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers

Lastly, here is one new criteria I added:

Last five songs listened to

“Separate And Ever Deadly” by The Last Shadow Puppets

Up until recently, Google had the very typical favicon (don’t know what a favicon is?) where the capital “G” was inside a square box with each side having a different color. Today, or at least today I realised, Google has designed something new. They have replaced the capital “G” with a small “g” and only made it blue on a white background; fading into grey at the bottom.

its great

I honestly think that this icon rocks. It’s simple and it just totally fits into Googles image. They wanna be a kid-like and friendly company, thus a small “g” lends itself better than a capital “G” for the favicon. The “G” was blue before, so why should that change? Removing the square border was the best move the designer could have taken. We are no longer in the pixel-art age where all icons were square and simple, so that move was obvious and necessary. Without this border, the icon looks much more modern.

All but one thing

I can’t really say wether the grey fade below the “g” is a shadow or if it just a gradient for the whole background. This part looks a bit unfinished … so, Google, change that part! Otherwise, kudos to the designer!
