After having hosted with 1Blu (A German webhosting company) successfully for over a year, I will now switch to a new and “ultimate” hosting service. MediaTemple is not the most known hosting service in the world - but it surely is the best one around! It is a company based around San Francisco hosting sites of corporations like Sony, Adidas or even Time Warner (Warner Brothers). LOL - That alone makes someone switch to them!
Why the temple of Media?
Though, I won’t move to MediaTemple because they are so famous among the big companies - but because they simply offer all the features that someone, who exceeds the standard HTML requirements, needs.
I wanted to use PotionStore to power the new software company (hint, hint, hint) I will be opening. Sadly, my old host did not provide any of the requirements so I simply decided to go with MediaTemple.
I signed up with them on Friday and the account was ready within 5 minutes of having hit the sign-up button. Registering the domain took only 30 minutes and their support, interface is all excellent. I played with the features they offer for the past hour or so and I am only amazed at what you can actually do once you have all these abilities. Ruby, Postgresql, Cron, SSH … wow.
Oh - one last factor that made me switch to them was the fact that their 20$ for their Grid-Service are so cheap compared to what I had paid with my previous hosting company. I used to pay 15€ monthly for 2GB of storage, unlimited traffic, basic PHP and MySQL features. The Grid-Service offers 100GB of storage (hello???), 1TB of traffic, Ruby, PHP, MySQL, PostGresql and much, much more for the same price (about 14€)
A short future outlook…
I’m happy with MediaTemple and I will hopefully stay with them for a long, long time. I will move this domain as well as my other domains to MediaTemple as well.

I’ve been with MediaTemple for over a year now I love them! I never had any issues with them.
One thing that bugged me at the beginning was the fact that they ain’t doing the domain transfers for you. I ended up writing cancellation contracts myself … but it eventually worked out.
Yehea! I hate switching hosting service in regards to the domains. This domain still hasn’t moved over to MediaTemple ’cause MediaTemple can’t read the german contracts and stuff. Real mess man.
:sigh:
