God Damn Wordpress Updates

I have been using the Wordpress platform for quite a while now and I can full-heartedly recommend it. It is an online application that runs on PHP and a MySQL database providing the ability to easily run a blog. The good thing is that you basically design one theme, or the layout, and then write pages and posts with an easy-to-use back-end interface. Everything is generated automatically and with a collection of over a thousand plugins, you can get everything automated. Wether it be the sitemap generation or a simple script integration.

Everything is just perfect and rocks … but

… the automatic updates feature is missing! They notify you that an update for Wordpress is available - but I don’t get why they won’t just automatically update Wordpress?
I always have to re-download the application and upload it to my server while making sure not replace one of those three files that are not to be replaced. As clumsy as I am, I’ve replaced the files often enough and had to rebuild the whole blog from ground up.

It just happened

I’ve just had to start all over again ’cause I’ve tried to get the 2.5.1 update up and running. Damn man! Luckily I’ve upgraded my web-hosting package to include backups and so I was able to restore the files and keep this blog as it was before.

Automattic (the geniuses behind Wordpress), please do something about this! I know you won’t be struggling about it. :-D

Got Thoughts?

By all means share them, and start the conversation.
